William J has consistently been one of the best selectors in Singapore, but man, he's definitely stepped up his game lately. Darker Than Wax's Canadian rep has impressed us at stages large (ZoukOut, kyo) and small (Good Times, KOI Beats + Brunch) which is just goes to show how adaptable he is. He's able to win over any floor with ease, and its all down to a combination of impeccable technical prowess, an innate ability to read the crowd and his absurdly large collection of music. Although he introduced himself to Singapore as a garage specialist, he's quickly proven himself to be one of the most versatile DJs out there at the moment.

Here he bookends his set with some vintage Indonesian and Malay classics and then proceeds to fill in this mix's rich creamy center with soul, funk, jazz, dub, reggae, techno, R&B, footwork, Afrobeat, grime, hip-hop, trap and even a chamber orchestra cover of Kendrick Lamar's 'Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe'. Its amazing how cohesive this meandering 73-minute journey feels despite the sheer number of genres it covers, and that's a testament to William J's unparalleled sensibilities. He's basically our version of Jackmaster, really. Sit back and soak this one in, because trust us, you've never experienced a mix quite like this before.
