Baybeats announces 2017 line-up

The Baybeats Festival is a mainstay on Singapore’s music calendar. It's a melting pot of young bands coming together to show the world what they have to offer. It’s also the finale of the Baybeats Mentorship program, where budding bands who were selected through auditions had the chance to undergo an extensive cornucopia of workshops by industry professionals.

This year, for example, they underwent a drum workshop with Adam Shah and a vocal workshop with Vanessa Fernandez. These are just two of the seven workshops that were lined up for the budding bands.

The festival allows up and coming musicians to be mentored by and play the same stage as local and regional industry stalwarts, who have years of music production and performance under their belt. These bands include hardcore quintet Villes, alternative band sub:shaman, nu-metal giants Greyhoundz (Philippines), and even The F-16s (India).

The audience isn’t forgotten either. The free festival is attended well by heaps upon heaps of people who get a fresh taste of the future of the local music scene. This year, the Festival will feature four stages – the Chillout stage (Esplanade Concourse), the Arena (Esplanade Outdoor theatre), the Powerhouse (Esplanade Waterfront Carpark), and its newest addition: the Esplanade Annexe Studio.
