7 Valentine's gigs and events to check out in Singapore this February — from a pyjama party to a jazz and poetry concert

Love is in the air as the Valentine's season approaches again.

With just a few days left before you take that special someone out, you would probably have already come up with a plan for the perfect date. If you have not done so, you might be feeling anxious and racking your brains over what to do.

If you find yourself in the latter group, fret not. With concerts, gigs, parties, and events taking place Singapore before, during, and after Valentine's Day this year, you will find that there is no shortage of ways to spend an evening with your loved one.

Habouji Presents Habouji Slumber - Raw PJ Party Edition

You may be familiar with slumber parties, but chances are you have not experienced one like this before. This February, lifestyle, entertainment, and events management agency Habouji invites you to put on your most elegant sleepwear and party the night away on the dance floor of nightlife venue MDLR

Curated by individuals who pride themselves on their ability to create "conducive" spaces for partygoers to forge "profound connections", this celebration of love is one that you won't want to miss.


l'amour dans l'air (Love in the air)

When: 14 February, 7:15 PM and 8:15 PM

Where: Esplanade Concourse

Flautist Jihyun Chang, clarinet player and music educator HaeJin Ryu, and pianist Mei Hui Tan will take the stage together at this free concert at Esplanade — Theatres on the Bay this Valentine's Day. During their two sets at the Esplanade Concourse, the trio will take concert-goers on a romantic odyssey during their presentations of Dmitri Shostakovich's Four Waltzes and Camille Saint-Saëns' Tarantella.


NO SPOILERS DINING VALENTINE'S DAY

If you are looking for a place to enjoy the soothing sounds of jazz and poetry while feasting on a sumptuous meal with your loved one, No Spoilers Dining at The Projector (Cineleisure) is the place to be on 14 February.

Featuring jazz vocalist and poet Michelle Chua and guitarist Liu Yonglun, Arima Nights: Valentine Jazz & Poetry will soundtrack The Projector's inaugural Valentine's Day Course Dinner. Set to be a journey through time and space, the performance will include love poems composed by spoken word duo Venezia May and Michelle C.  


Valentine’s Day Dance Class and Party with Sinclair Ang & His Rhythmakers

When: 14 February, 9 PM

Where: The Jazz Loft @ Blu Jaz

Jazz Inc.'s annual Valentine's Day dance party and party is returning for a new edition this February, and if you are a musician, a dancer, or just a jazz enthusiast, you will want to head on over to The Jazz Loft at Blu Jaz.

Led by Singaporean music collective Sinclair Ang & His Rhythm Makers, this event will feature jazz tunes you will not be able to resist dancing along to as well as performances from guest musicians and singers. Newcomers to dance can also sign up for a taster class that will be held before the live band performance.

A Colombian collaboration awaits visitors to Las Américas this Valentine's Day. Producer and musician Diego (Diego Agudelo) and multi-genre singer Colleen will be teaming up to fill the events space, restobar, and art gallery with live performances of tunes that you would not usually expect to hear during this season. Titled Anti-Valentine Serenade Dinner, this event will feature songs about self-care, breakups, and even hookups.


PINK FRIDAY: NIGHT FOR THE BARBZ

When: 16 February, 9 PM

Nicki Minaj fans, this one is for you. Named after the rapper's debut studio album, PINK FRIDAY: NIGHT FOR THE BARBZ will be a three-hour party set to music from the different eras — including Roman Reloaded, The Pinkprint, and Pink Friday 2 — of the 'FTCU' act's career. DJs who will lead the party from The Backroom's deck include Li.A, Gosh, and Taugay.


NO STRINGS ATTACHED; A Valentine’s Show

When: 16 February, 6:30 PM

From music collective Overdrive comes NO STRINGS ATTACHED; A Valentine’s Show, a concert where you will be able to dance and sing along to "groovy love-themed tunes" from Singaporean bands alongside fellow music lovers. Included on the event's performance lineup are bands Sarco, The SignOff, LAST MINUTE, and DJ ISAAC. Those who have yet to secure their tickets to the concert will be able to do so when additional slots are released closer to the day of the event.
