As of 28 November, the concert movie is now available to watch outside Japan on the streaming platform across 190 territories. Utada’s previous live performances, Laughter in the Dark Tour 2018 and Live Sessions from Air Studios (2022), have also now been included to the Prime Video catalogue.
The announcement comes just as the legendary pop singer-songwriter winds down their 25th anniversary celebration this year, which includes the eponymous greatest hits album and tour.
“This is also your 25 years,” says Hikaru Utada in SCIENCE FICTION Tour 2024 in Hong Kong – gig report
The SCIENCE FICTION Tour 2024 kicked off last July in Fukuoka, Japan, and wrapped up with a sold-out two-night show at Yokohama K-Arena. Gathering over 258,000 fans across 9 stops, the tour also included overseas shows in Hong Kong and Taipei.
“These 25 years have been amazing for me, and I hope they've been the same for you,” said Utada at their tour finale in Yokohama. “I also hope the next 25 years are just as wonderful. For now, let's just say this moment is the best. Congratulations, everyone!"
The concert film will also be released on Blu-ray on 11 December in limited and standard editions. On top of the performance footage, the release includes tour documentary footage, all 40 Utada music videos from ‘Automatic’ to 「何色でもない花」 (Nani Iro Demo Nai Hana), and a 2-disc live audio CD set.
Meanwhile, fans in Japan can also catch HIKARU UTADA LIVE CHRONICLES in cinema, which is screening 9 concert recordings.
