The wait for LE SSERAFIM's third mini-album is over.
On 19 February, the K-pop girl group made their first comeback of the year with EASY, a five-track project that marks a thematic departure from their earlier releases.
While the quintet's mini-albums FEARLESS and ANTIFRAGILE, debut studio record UNFORGIVEN, Japanese releases, and English single 'Perfect Night' showcased their fearlessness, strength, and unapologetic attitude, their latest release sees them acknowledge their these traits are "not inherent" and that their achievements are the results of their hard work.
Produced by HYBE chairman Bang Si-hyuk (aka "Hitman" Bang) and producer duo 13, who were also involved in LE SSERAFIM's previous releases, EASY also reinforces the group's determination to remain resilient in the face of hardship.
The mini-album's title track, 'EASY', features '80s and '90s hip-hop influences and centres around the SOURCE MUSIC act's desire to "overcome anxiety and doubts" and make challenging situations appear easy.
The track is complemented by choreography that is described as "exceptionally challenging" and a music video helmed by director and choreographer Nina McNeely, who has worked with global stars The Weekend and Doja Cat.
Aside from 'EASY', the project features an opening number inspired by a poem from author Maggie Smith, titled 'Good Bones', and the b-sides 'Swan Song', 'Smart', and 'We got so much', which feature songwriting contributions from Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, and Hong Eunchae.
Having launched their new mini-album, LE SSERAFIM are now gearing up to make their Coachella this April. At this year's edition of the festival, the group will be part of a star-studded lineup featuring acts such as Tyler, the Creator, Lana Del Rey, YOASOBI, Doja Cat, and No Doubt.
