Hot off the success of their previous 2 albums, the critically-acclaimed Burnana (烧金蕉), and the Golden Melody award-winning Road to… (不是路), Taiwanese band Lilium (百合花) are back with their 3rd full-length effort.

Entitled Everything Will Go Wonderfully (萬事美妙), their latest release explores the narratives of multiple protagonists in each song. From a deity delivering his blessings to a foreigner’s cry of helplessness, to a roadside fortune teller’s rhetorical questions, to a street entertainer’s farewell performance - the band's compositions continue to bring imaginative perspectives to Taiwanese Hokkien music.

Here, Lilium also experiments with a different approach to their arrangements. While the band's usage of traditional musical elements were often presented as standalone portions in the past, this album more organically and cohesively weaves its them into their overall sonic tapsetry.

Note the deft implementation of the drums and luogu (traditional Chinese drum) in the 3rd track ‘Stranger (生分人)', as well as the recorder solo (rearranged from a traditional beiguan piece) in track 4 ‘A Strange Smell (怪味)’. Meanwhile, in the 5th track ‘Come Out (出來)’, the guitar solo is a fantastic adaptation of a popular song from traditional opera.

Everything Will Go Wonderfully carries on the spirit of Lilium’s previous works, expanding the possibilities of Taiwanese Hokkien music and applying its style to a modern concept and sound.  In addition, this latest album also features a wide range of genres - ranging from progressive rock  and reggaeton, to metal and pop.
