If you grew up in Singapore in the early 2000s, chances are that you are familiar with the Mr. Midnight book series.

The brainchild of author Jim Aitchison, better known as James Lee, the children's horror-fiction series has enjoyed tremendous success both within the Lion City as well as across Asia since it was launched in 1998.

This year, the popular book series — which chronicles its young protagonists' paranormal adventures — will be given the small screen treatment by Netflix

Titled "Mr. Midnight: Beware The Monsters", the streaming and production giant's adaptation of Lee's works is scheduled to premiere on 24 October 2022, just a week before Halloween.

Starring a diverse ensemble, which includes the likes of Idan Aedan, Chen Yixin, Caleb Monk, Nikki Dekker, Adina Wirasti, and Fir Rahman, the series will follow a teenager and his friends as they blog about their encounters with terrifying creatures under the name "Mr. Midnight".

In a post on Facebook, Lee expressed his excitement about Netflix's take on his books: "It has been a long time coming but it gives me great pleasure to announce that the Mr. Midnight TV series will finally be coming to our screens on Netflix!"
