The next chapter of the global phenomenon Squid Game is coming soon.
In a sizzle reel for its 2024 release slate, titled NEXT ON NETFLIX 2024: The Series and Films Preview, streaming platform Netflix teased the return of its South Korean thriller series via a high-stakes clip from its season one finale.
In the clip, Squid Game's protagonist, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) confronts a mysterious individual through a phone call while at an airport terminal.
Netflix has since also shared the first images of Squid Game: Season 2's cast, which includes returning stars Lee Byung-hun and Gong Yoo and new addition Park Gyu-young (It's Okay Not To Be Okay, Sweet Home).

Other members of Squid Game: Season 2's cast include Wi Ha-jun, singer and actor Yim Si-wan, and former IZ*ONE member Jo Yuri.
Released in 2021, the first season of Squid Game was written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk and centred around a group of people who were pitted against each other in a series of deadly challenges based on childhood games.
Starring Lee Jung-jae alongside Park Hae-soo and breakout star Jung Ho-yeon, it was both a critical and commercial success, which took home six Primetime Emmy Awards and was viewed by over 142 million households within 28 days of its launch.
