Oh, Wanderland 2016, how do we describe thee? We put on our space suits for the ride of a lifetime, and found ourselves in a time warp of the most intense sensations.
The sun shone brightly on Wanderland Planet, as local favorites Oh, Flamingo!, Jensen and the Flips, and Cheats took turns on the stage, paving the way for Australian bands Panama and San Cisco to send the crowd's cheery vibes on overdrive. The pulsating tunes of Curtismith and Comandeur at the Globe Stage, in turn, paved the way for a night filled with electrifying emotions, with CRWN x Jess Connelly, Chad Valley, The Naked and Famous, and Blackbird Blackbird rocking the entire space center down on alternate stages.
The key highlights of the festival, of course, were co-headliners Bon Iver and Death Cab for Cutie. It was Bon Iver's first time to perform in Manila, and they gave their fans exactly the type of heartache worth waiting, even longing, for; bringing The Staves along only served to deepen the sweet, sweet damage. Death Cab for Cutie, on the other hand, proved that they were truly powerful performers who know full well how to work an audience, and that having seen them live before cannot prepare you for the sheer mess you'll become the second time around.
On the whole, it was almost surreal seeing the sheer amount of people present from start to finish, and this is testament to what Wanderland does best—putting up well-curated events that gives festival-goers a full sensory experience where they can make the most out of their stay.
Watch out for our full report, coming as soon as we've recovered from our feelings. In the meantime, check out these photo highlights from the entire day!
