Red Velvet's Joy will not be participating in the Yokohama, Bangkok, and Manila legs of the group's R to V global tour.
In a statement posted on the K-pop quintet's official Japanese website on 26 April, SM Entertainment cited the vocalist's health issues as the reason that led to the decision.
"Red Velvet's Joy, as we informed you from Korea, was diagnosed by a doctor that she needed treatment and rest as a result of having a medical examination at the hospital due to poor physical condition. Therefore, in order to focus on treatment, [she] will not be able to participate in this performance," the statement read.
SM Entertainment also confirmed that Red Velvet's shows in Yokohama, which are scheduled to be held on 3 May and 4 May, will go ahead as planned with the 'Birthday' act's remaining members — Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Yeri.
Fans in Japan who wish to refund their tickets can do so from 11 AM local time on 26 April to 11:59 PM on 27 April. More details can be found here.

The news of Joy's withdrawal from Red Velvet's concerts comes just days after the group's show in Singapore, during which Joy had to step off the stage to take a break.
"She's not feeling well, not much. She worked out too much, I guess," Wendy told fans in attendance.
"She's not going to be on the stage for the rest of the concert. She said to us not to worry [and that] she's okay. She just wanted to show you guys a better performance later on, so she doesn't want you guys to worry," she continued.
In a post on KWANGYA Club, SM Entertainment wrote: "We will do our best to help Joy meet the fans again in good health, and we will inform you as soon as the decision for Joy's return is made."
