Ryuichi Sakamoto is wrapping up the year with a spectacular finish.
Under the title of Ryuichi Sakamoto: Playing the Piano 12122020, the prominent composer will be holding the concert on 12 December, at 5:30PM (TH/ID Standard Time) or 6:30PM (SG/PH/MY Standard Time). Broadcast live from a studio in Tokyo, this will be his first piano solo concert in Japan since 2013, and his last of the year.

Due to payment restrictions, the show will only be available in eight countries, namely Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Australia, USA, and Canada. It will be hosted on MUSIC/SLASH, which is said to provide “highest sound quality ever developed in the industry”.

“High-quality sound streaming at an unimaginable level has recently been realized. I'm excited to so widely share the detailed and nuanced sound previously impossible. I hope you can join me,” said the musician, in a message translated from Japanese.

The live performance will be directed by Rhizomatiks, a Japanese company that focuses on the relationship and boundaries between analog and digital, as the real and virtual. Enlisted with the help of artist duo Zakkubalan from New York, the best will be brought out of Sakamoto’s music, along with its accompanying cinematography for the show.
Ticket sales are priced at 5,000 yen (US$ 47.89, excluding taxes) and sales will end 7 December, 9:59PM (TH/ID Standard Time) or 10:59PM (SG/PH/MY Standard Time).
