totâ, the brainchild of Autotelic frontman Josh Villena, has released his highly anticipated first album Sa May Kabilang Dulo via Off The Record and Sony Music Entertainment Philippines.

Following the success of his recent singles, including the evocative 'Tabi', totâ’s debut offers listeners a heartfelt journey through life's most vulnerable moments, balancing introspective lyrics with captivating musical arrangements.

Sa May Kabilang Dulo is a culmination of personal reflection and creative exploration, deeply inspired by totâ's experiences during the pandemic. “The album started with just one song I wrote during that time,” he shares. “I began writing songs for myself, realizing I had so much I wanted to express about what I was going through.”

The result is an album that connects with listeners on a deeply personal level, addressing themes of uncertainty, self-discovery, and acceptance. totâ’s lyrics offer an honest invitation to confront one’s fears and embrace the complexity of human emotions—a sentiment that resonates in each track.

Drawing influence from folk and rock legends and contemporary artists like Aurora, Billie Eilish, and Rico Blanco, Sa May Kabilang Dulo is a tapestry of genres. totâ also acknowledges the impact of local icons such as Gabby Alipe, Ebe Dancel, Nikka Melchor, Barbie Almalbis, and Unique Salonga, whose music has inspired him throughout his career. Each song on the album carries a unique sound and mood, with every instrument and element thoughtfully crafted to serve its purpose. “I’m excited for fans to hear how each song stands on its own yet also contributes to the album’s larger story,” totâ says.

One of the album’s central messages is the importance of embracing vulnerability. “I want listeners to know it’s okay to admit when we’re scared or unsure,” totâ explains. “We’re only human, and it’s alright to explore different parts of ourselves, to recognize that there are different versions of who we are.” This message resonates in tracks that explore the unknowns of life and the complexities of human connection, offering a space for listeners to find solace in shared experiences.

To mark the release, totâ will hold a special album launch on 16 November at Minsan Studio, QC, as part of his "Lights-Off Live" show. The intimate event will feature live performances alongside his family, who have been integral to totâ’s musical journey, including his father, acclaimed musician Mel Villena, and siblings Ria, Miko, and Mark. Clara Benin, another standout in the indie music scene, will join as a guest performer. Fans can expect an immersive live experience, with totâ inviting attendees to dive deeper into the stories behind his music. Tickets for the event are available here.
