In the Technicolour mega-universe of K-pop, already saturated with multi-hyphenate superstars, a new icon is rising to the forefront.
Korean-Russian K-pop artist AleXa has taken an unconventional route to arrive before us, but her sheer brilliance demands to be seen and felt. The first artist to be signed under ZB Label, a subsidiary artist management branch under video production company ZANYBROS, she kickstarts a brand new trajectory for the future of Korean music. A lifelong dancer, she also emerged as the winner of Soompi’s Rising Legends and participated in Produce 48, the popular reality competition show that birthed the girl group IZ*ONE.
In October, she released her debut single ‘Bomb’ and its stunning, accompanying visual, which has amassed more than eight million views presently. Bombastic and extravagant, the video showcases her dance prowess and undeniable charisma.
At KAMP 2019, we spoke to AleXa about being the first Russian-Korean K-pop star, whom she would like to collaborate with, her advice for budding K-pop stars and more.
