British indie outfit, Bastille, has unleashed the music video for ‘Doom Days’, the latest single and title track of the upcoming album.
The video sees Dan Smith, the lead vocalist, singing to the audience while looking straight at them. The use of mood lighting and high-contrast shots intensifies the reflective quality of the song; as if it is Dan, himself, speaking to viewers about the issues the song discusses.
In an email to fans, Dan explains that the song is about “trying to find escapism from our modern anxieties” such as various forms of addiction and climate change denial.
“Ultimately it’s about switching off for the night,” he added.
