Netflix has greenlit a new South Korean romantic comedy series called Boyfriend on Demand (working title). BLACKPINK member Jisoo is set to star alongside Seo In-guk (Doom at Your Service, Café Minamdang) in the leading roles.
The K-drama follows an overworked webtoon producer who discovers romance through a subscription-based virtual reality dating program. Jisoo will play the role of Seo Mi-rae, the aforementioned creative whose romantic life takes a turn when she receives a device that allows her to date unrealistically perfect virtual partners.
Seo In-guk will portray Park Kyeong-nam, a rival webtoon producer who has complex dynamic with Mi-rae. Director Kim Jung-sik (Work Later, Drink Now and No Gain No Love) will helm the series.
The show marks Jisoo’s latest acting effort following her success in Disney+ and JTBC’s Snowdrop, and Prime Video's Newtopia, which debuted this month. She also just released her debut solo mini album AMORTAGE last week.
