If you’ve been anticipating the follow-up to Japanese experimental band Boris’ last studio album NO, then your wait is nearly over.
When their 26th studio album intentionally ended with a track entitled ‘Interlude,’ fans of the prolific harsh noise outfit have been expecting a follow-up to NO, and sure enough, they’ve just announced their new full-length record W, their very first release with Sacred Bone Records.
Boris just announced new album “W”.

The surrealistic electronic soundscapes of W are expected to serve as a continuation of or even a response to the abrasiveness and extremity of NO, seeing as you get ‘NOW’ when putting the two individual albums together.
As a preview into the new record, the band has just shared their lead single ‘Drowning by Numbers’ which is accompanied by a spellbinding music video directed by YUTARO and featuring dancer Yukiko Doi.
In a press statement, the band shared: “This video was filmed at a private showcase with a limited invitation in April 2021. It is a collaborative performance with a contemporary dance team. The song was transformed from its original performance and visualised; a big hat dances symbolically at the beginning of the new album.”
W will be out on 21 January 2022 and is up for pre-order here.
'Drowning by Numbers' is now available for streaming on Spotify.
