On Wednesday, November 13, Jakarta experienced a concert for the ages as Take That took the stage at the Tennis Indoor Senayan, a venue known for its intimate setting and excellent acoustics, marking their triumphant return to Indonesia after a nearly 30-year absence. Presented by LIVEWIRED, this event was part of the British pop icons' This Life On Tour series.
The anticipation was palpable as the crowd eagerly awaited the arrival of the pop legends. Indonesian R&B favourites THE BROWNSU kicked off the night with a soulful opening performance that warmed up the crowd and set the stage for the pop legends. Their energetic set was peppered with 1990s classics, providing the perfect prelude to Take That’s entrance.
The trio – Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald – delivered an unforgettable show with dazzling visuals, pitch-perfect vocals, and a setlist packed with nostalgic hits and fresh tracks, including from their latest album, This Life. With Mata Elang Productions providing the intricately designed stage, immaculate sound production, and stunning LED and lighting system, the band began their show with a confetti-filled 'Greatest Day' instantly electrifying the audience and setting the tone for a night of pure joy and nostalgia.

The crowd was treated to a seamless blend of Take That classics, including 'Everything Changes', 'How Deep Is Your Love', 'Relight My Fire', and 'Back For Good', alongside newer anthems such as 'Patience', 'Flood', and 'Windows', showcasing the band’s continued evolution in their musical journey. Every note moved Jakarta fans to the core, and the atmosphere was euphoric as they sang along in unison, waving their arms to every beat.
One of the night’s highlights was when Take That surprised the crowd by bringing onstage several Indonesian national football team jerseys and scarves. Each band member wore the scarves and took turns handing out the jerseys, sparking huge cheers and applause as fans reached out to catch them. The thoughtful gesture resonated deeply with the audience, adding a personal touch that made the night even more unforgettable.
The energy reached fever pitch when Take That pulled out all the stops for a powerful rendition of their hit 'Never Forget'. The band and the audience were united in a powerful moment, which ended with more confetti and emotions running high as concertgoers basked in the chance to see their idols up close, many for the first time. They then closed their set with 'Rule The World', with the band quipping at the end, “We hope we don’t need to wait another 29 years to come back!”.
