Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak will take the stage for the first time as the newly formed duo, Silk Sonic, at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards this month.
Taking to his official Twitter page on 10 March, the former broke the news in a rather unconventional fashion. In his tweet, the GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter thanked the Recording Academy for giving Silk Sonic the opportunity to "reunite" at this year's award show.
Dear @RecordingAcad we humbly accept your invitation to reunite on your grand stage. Thank you! We swear we won’t do the most. ♥️#SilkSonic https://t.co/tVEk2s9FS4

For context, Mars had gotten into an "argument" with .Paak two days prior to the announcement of duo's performance. On 8 March, .Paak shared the "original performance" lineup, which excluded Silk Sonic — who recently released their debut single 'Leave The Door Open', via Twitter and tagged Mars in the tweet.
YO @BrunoMars WHAT THE FUCK?!? Did you see this?!?! Call me back!! pic.twitter.com/nS2brA54gK

In the series of tweets that followed, the rapper and producer expressed his "disappointment" at not being invited to perform at the Grammys and called out Mars for not delivering on his promise to give the duo the "best promotion".

The exchange between Mars and .Paak eventually culminated in the former sending an appeal to the Recording Academy and starting the hashtag #LetSilkSonicThrive, which began trending on Twitter within minutes.
