Leading local games developer and publisher Garena names global superstars BTS as the new face of 2019’s most downloaded game, Garena Free Fire.

Following football star Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, the ‘Butter’ act has been named as the new Global Ambassadors for Garena Free Fire. 

 In recent years, Free Fire’s developers have collaborated with a wide variety of global personalities like Indian actor Hrithik Roshan, Brazilian DJ Alok, and many more. Boasting a vast worldwide player demographic, Garena has been expanding their reach through these massive international collaborations. 

 Though the specific details have yet to be released, Free Fire producer Harold Teo promises players “more ways to engage with the game, socialize with the community, and enjoy new experiences”. 

 Additionally, Garena is hyping up its fans for an in-game collaboration event like no other with BTS, slated for release at the end of March. The developers urge gamers to “enter the world of Free Fire”, indicating an immersive affair fans can look forward to.

True to their name as 21st-century pop icons, the announcement has already created a wave of activity from the gaming community and ARMYs (fans of BTS) online.

Fans took to Twitter to express their excitement about seeing their favourite members as “skins” on the popular online game while others chimed in on the powerful combination made between the top-grossing game and the widely loved boy band. 

 Funnily enough, there seem to be many ARMY-Gamer siblings who are recognising this special collaboration as a new common ground between them and their brothers or sisters.
