Meet Ian MacDonald, the visual artist behind BTS' IDOL Fine Art Print for Sideshow Collectibles

Taking to Twitter on 2 February, American collectible manufacturer  Sideshow, announced that it had inked a licensing deal with the South Korean group. Its tweet was accompanied by a teaser image featuring the recognisable silhouettes of the Grammy-nominated group's seven members — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.

The collaboration will include ultra-detailed deluxe statues of the K-pop sensations, as depicted in the teaser image, a statue inspired by the BTS logo, and a number of fine art prints.

BTS: IDOL FINE ART PRINT

For the BTS: IDOL Fine Art Print, artist Ian MacDonald was inspired by the K-pop superstars' iconic live show in 2018. The print is available on both paper (starts at USD 45) and canvas (USD 350). Pre-order here.

BTS: DYNAMITE FINE ART SCREENPRINT

A collaboration between Sideshow, artist Tracie Ching, and print studio The Half and Half, this fine art screenprint is inspired by BTS' 'Dynamite' music video. This screen-printed illustration will be available for US$65 for a limited time. Order it here.

"THE COLOR OF LOVE" PREMIUM BTS LOGO STATUE

Measuring 7" tall and 4.5" wide, the "The Color of Love" fuses BTS' logo with that of ARMY. The initials "BTS" can be found on its black base. The statue is available for USD 45. Preorder it here.

"7 WITH YOU" PREMIUM BTS LOGO STATUE

The "7 With You" premium logo statue draws inspiration from the group's first seven years. It includes recongisable icons and designs from albums such as 2 COOL FOR SKOOL and MAP OF THE SOUL: 7. The statues is available for USD 55. Preorder it here.

BTS DYNAMITE SCREENPRINT 

Created by artist Tracie Ching, the 'Dynamite'-inspired limited edition screenprint will be available for pre-order on 27 April, 11 AM KST (10 AM SGT/PHT). Find out more details here.

LOVE YOURSELF FINE ART PRINTS

Inspired by the photography for the “L” and “O” versions of LOVE YOURSELF 承 'Her,' acclaimed South Korean visual artist Kildren has worked on 7 individual art prints featuring each member of BTS. The prints are available in Fine Art glicèe prints and woodblocks. Get it here.

DELUXE STATUES

Similar to the fine art prints, the deluxe statues are inspired by BTS' iconic 2018 performance of 'IDOL'. In a press release, Sideshow reveals: "Each of these highly-anticipated new luxury collectibles stands between nine and eleven inches tall, and features ultra-realistic and individually hand-painted sculptures of each of the group’s stars, as well as exquisitely detailed miniature fabric Hanbok, meticulously tailored to each pose and gesture."

BE: Fine Art Screenprint

Inspired by their 2020 album, BE, the Tracie Ching design features the BTS members "depicted in a kaleidoscope of emotion." In a statement, Sideshow shares: "The 7 members of BTS are surrounded by many mirrored reflections of themselves, signifying the pull between past, present, and future. Separated into fracturing shapes, they each have flown to their own rooms, yet they remain connected and intertwined, unified by their ongoing struggles and successes.
