BTS' SUGA is back in Asia after setting extending his record for the highest grossing concerts by a K-pop solo artist in the States with the US leg of his D-DAY World Tour.

The story of Agust D: How BTS' SUGA concludes a chapter of searching and healing in 'D-DAY' — album review

To kick off the Asian leg, SUGA, who is also performing as Agust D, played three sold-out shows in Jakarta to 30,000 fans throughout the weekend. The shows marks the return of the 'Haegum' act, who last visited the city with the rest of the BTS members for their Wings Tour in 2017.

Fans (who called themselves IndoMys) and SUGA were ecstatic to see each other, giving and returning the love with every interaction. SUGA exclaimed "Long time no see, Jakarta!" as he took to the stage and introduced himself in his many solo personas – "Hello, happy to meet u guys! I’m SUGA... or Agust D... or Yoongi".

SUGA, despite nursing a cough, gave it his all and powered through all three nights of the sold-out concerts.

While SUGA had surprises up his sleeve for the audience, the crowd had also prepared gifts for the award-winning rapper – from surprise fanchants and fan projects to heartwarming and creative fan signs – making each moment even more special for each other.

The SUGA Crew also had a great time at show, visibly showing their joy onstage with signs on their mobile phones.

Some fans also got to meet some members of the band who were making their way around the venue.

Members of the live band shared snaps of their Jakarta experience on Instagram – their posts and stories filled with good memories of the concert, the people, the sights, and most of all, the food.

If SUGA was bringing the house down inside the ICE BSD Convention Center, IndoMys outside the venue were also throwing a party of their own. Fans sang BTS songs outside while the show was taking place, lighting up the night with their ARMY bombs and cellphone flashlights.

Brands were also in attendance bringing their A-game to the shows. Fans could borrow Samsung Galaxy phones to take photos and videos with at the concert, and also take snaps at the the different photospots at the booth.

Meanwhile, Starbucks Indonesia unveiled a secret recipe just for the SUGA concert, the Purple Dynamite Beverage (a.k.a Iced Shaken Berry Milk).

Spotify K-pop set up wall panels where fans could write letters to SUGA and to each other.

Aside from the SUGA crew, SUGA, and IndoMys, the venue and merch staff also joined in the fun. The staff were reportedly very friendly and welcoming to fans, making sure they were assisted accordingly, helping out the audience when they can. In video clips, the staff can be seen waving fans goodbye and singing along with them.

Wrapping up the end of the 3-night residency, SUGA promised to return to Jakarta as 7 members – with Jin, RM, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.

BTS' SUGA continues his D-DAY World Tour in Japan, Bangkok, and Singapore next month. The D-DAY Live in Japan concert will be screened in cinemas globally on 3 June. Find out more here.
