BTS keep making history in charts across the globe.
This time, the global superstars topped Japan's Oricon year-end album chart, making them the first foreign act to achieve the milestone – 37 years after Michael Jackson's Thriller. The two-time GRAMMY-nominated act's compilation album BTS, THE BEST, is the best-selling album on the Oricon album chart in 2021. BTS, THE BEST features 'Film Out,' a track co-created by BTS member Jungkook and J-pop act Back Number, 'Dynamite,' and all their Japanese releases since 2017. The album has sold over 1 million copies.

Meanwhile, J-pop group Snow Man comes in at second with Snow Mania S1. Released last September, Snow Mania S1 includes singles such as 'D.D,' 'KISSIN' MY LIPS'/ Stories,' 'Grandeur,' and 'HELLO HELLO,' It also serves as their first full album which sold 1 million copies upon its release.

In third place are Japanese pop group SixTONES with their debut album aptly titled 1ST. The album features previously released tracks such as 'Imitation Rain,' 'Navigator,' and 'New Era'. Released last January 2021, it has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
King&Prince's third album Re:Sense comes in fourth. Released last July, Re:Sense is the group's first official release as a five-piece after the departure of Genki Iwahashi. The album includes two title tracks – 'Bokurano Great Journey' and the Babyface-produced 'Namae Oshiete'.
In fifth are K-pop group SEVENTEEN with their ninth EP, Attacca. Named by Bandwagon as one of the best EPs of 2021, Attacca wraps up SEVENTEEN's year-long POWER OF LOVE project. The 7-track release includes the title track 'Rock with You,' as well as the group's first full English song, '2 MINUS ONE' as a Bonus Track.
Kanjani Eight, Hey! Say! JUMP, Official Hige Dandism, NiziU, Hikaru Utada, ENHYPEN, TXT, NCT 127, TWICE, NCT, ASTRO, Stray Kids, EXO, EXO's Baekhyun, 2PM, SHINee, YOASOBI, and more also make it to the year-end list.
