Acclaimed Chinese pianist Lang Lang has announced that a new album is on the way.
Set to be launched via Deutsche 2023 on 1 March 2024, Lang Lang – Saint-Saëns will see the Shenyang-born musician present his own renditions of French organist, conductor, and pianist Camille Saint-Saëns' compositions, familiar classical pieces, and "musical discoveries".
Aside from being launched digitally, Lang Lang – Saint-Saëns will also be available to purchase in CD and vinyl forms.

Highlights from the record include The Carnival of the Animals, a comedic fourteen-movement musical suite from Saint-Saëns, Piano Concerto No. 2., Belle Époque pieces, as well as a selection of compositions from female French composers that Lang Lang wishes to spotlight.
Lang Lang – Saint-Saëns was put together in collaboration with pianist Gina Alice, who is also the wife of Lang Lang, and Andris Nelsons and the Gewandhausorchester.

Of Carnival of the Animals' inclusion on the record, Lang Lang said: “Many of us remember Saint-Saëns’ famous Carnival of the Animals from childhood. There are a lot of clever ideas underneath all the fun. He’s making a real statement, but in a very humorous way. And of course, it was wonderful to record it with my wife, Gina Alice.”
The 41-year-old also explained his decision to highlight pieces by female French composers: “In addition to iconic works by Saint-Saëns, Ravel, Debussy and Fauré, I was able for the first time to make a closer acquaintance with music by French women composers. For this recording, I have unearthed some beautiful treasures, which I am thrilled to share.”
Lang Lang's take on Carnival of the Animals' 'Aquarium' was released as a single on 10 November. An accompanying music video will premiere via his official YouTube channel at 6 AM PST on 10 November.
Additionally, a performance film of Carnival of the Animals and a concert film of Piano Concerto No. 2. will receive TV releases and be available to stream on STAGE+ from 10 February 2024 and April 2024, respectively.
