Clairo is set on making the music scene a safer place for everyone.

On Wednesday (07/01), the Wanderland Magic alum took to Twitter to share her thoughts on sexual assault allegations that have been spreading around the indie music scene. "I'm just completely disgusted," she writes. "I want nothing more than to create a safe and inclusive environment at shows, online, and within the music."

In a series of tweets, the 'Flaming Hot Cheetos' singer-songwriter reveals that she, alongside other bands, are looking at "hiring a specific group of people to look out for assault, harassment, any uncomfortable situation that happens at shows" and to have it part of the "new normal."

Clairo also mentions how Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama, who set up a wristband system in 2018 to help solo concertgoers find each other at shows.

"How would you guys feel about having wristbands available to you at the venue if you felt like you needed to be looked out for?" she suggests as one way to help fans easily call for protection within the crowd. "This could potentially work but we'd need to make sure it's not putting people in danger as well. we'll keep working on it," she writes.
