CRAVITY have no shortage of infectiously upbeat songs but that's only a fraction of why the boy group has become one of K-pop's biggest rising acts.
Genuine and passionate in everything they do, CRAVITY—who comprise Serim, Allen, Jungmo, Woobin, Wonjin, Minhee, Hyeongjun, Taeyoung, and Seongmin—centre themselves around an unrelenting love for music and their fans, LUVITYs.
Most recently, CRAVITY released their highly anticipated mini-album, NEW WAVE which speaks about their never-dying ambition and determination to create ripples with their music. Armed with a dream to conquer the world of K-pop, the 'PARTY ROCK' act are stopping at nothing to achieve their dreams, all while being a source of light for their fans all over the world.
BANDWAGON TV
Bandwagon recently caught up with CRAVITY to talk about what it's like making music with their best friends, their biggest dreams, and their latest mini-album.
Hi, CRAVITY! What have your days been like recently?
SERIM: With our new EP out, we’ve begun to perform in music shows with fans present. I couldn’t be happier.
Congratulations on the release of NEW WAVE! Could you tell us what the album is about and the message you want to send your fans through it?
HYEONGJUN: As you can probably tell by the title, our fourth mini album NEW WAVE shows our ambition to create new waves in the K-pop scene. This album is filled with our youthful and positive vibes. It’s even more special because you can also enjoy WOOBIN’s self-produced track ‘Colorful’. Please send lots of love!
The mini-album is a bilingual record, with songs in both Korean and English. What was the decision in putting together the album this way?
MINHEE: We wanted to form a strong bond with LUVITYs in all parts of the world, so releasing a full English track seemed like the best way to do so. It was also our way of showing appreciation for our worldwide LUVITY.
Could you tell us more about your titled track ‘PARTY ROCK’ and the story it tells?
ALLEN: We hope our fans can feel the positive energy that we’re trying to emit through this song. We’re trying to spread the message that sometimes it’s okay to just let go, escape the mundane tasks of daily life, and come with us to seek nonstop fun and excitement.
In an industry full of so many talented acts, what makes CRAVITY stand out?
WOOBIN: Each and every member has distinct characteristics that form the unique colour of our team. For example, TAEYOUNG’s viral TikToks, HYEONGJUN’s wit, WONJIN’s MC skills, ALLEN’s pure innocence, and MINHEE’s perfect body, just to list a few. There’s so much more that I could go on for days.
TAEYOUNG: Personally, I think CRAVITY’s honesty and straightforwardness are some traits that make us stand out to those who are new to us.
HYEONGJUN: Plus, we’re all very close with each other, so our strong friendship is definitely one of our biggest strengths. We’re not just “teammates” who happen to have been put on the same team, but we’re more like real-life besties and family.
What’s your biggest dream for the group and your music?
JUNGMO: Well, in terms of group goals, I want to get more opportunities that we should’ve gotten but couldn’t because of the pandemic. We are now getting more chances to meet our fans in person, but I’d love to meet them much more often.
TAEYOUNG: Music-wise, I would like to make my own song to convey a message of my choice.
HYEONGJUN: Wow, can we see producer TAEYOUNG soon?
TAEYOUNG: You never know!
SERIM: To add to what TAEYOUNG said, I want CRAVITY to build a more distinctive and unique musical style so that when people listen to something, they could think ‘Oh, this song just screams CRAVITY’ right off the bat.
ALLEN: My biggest dream is for CRAVITY to release a killer bop and get awarded the Song of the Year or Artist of the Year.
What’s the best part of being in CRAVITY?
ALLEN: Right this moment. I’m living the dream.
WONJIN: The fact that I can hang out with a group of amazing friends and get loved by the most amazing fandom! I don’t take the things I’m able to enjoy as a member of CRAVITY for granted. As this thought lingers in my head, it constantly reminds me to be thankful for being a member of such a great team.
SEONGMIN: Also, since there are many members, we can fill in for each other’s weaknesses and this helps to enhance the colour of our team. So to answer the question, the best part is that we have each other’s backs.

Share with us what else we can expect from CRAVITY.
WOOBIN: Starting from the next album, I wish we could all get involved in the album production process a bit more.
ALLEN: I also expect our visuals to get even better. Whether it be our outfits or hair and makeup, our visuals will surely become more mature.
TAEYOUNG: With our upgraded visuals, I hope we can visit more countries that we haven’t visited yet. We will all work harder so that we can meet more LUVITYs in person.
WONJIN: As much as we have become closer to LUVITY through this album, I just want LUVITYs to keep enjoying our music and performances. We’ll continue to take a step closer toward LUVITYs, so stay where you are! We’ll find a way to your hearts.
