The "news" of the death of Filipino rock legend Ely Buendia spread like wildfire on social media at 12 mn on Monday. Fans were sharing a link with the headline "BREAKING NEWS: Ely Buendia natagpuang patay sa loob ng kotse sa Tagaytay". The link led to a fake ABS-CBN news blogspot page with all the "details" of the so-called death.
Ely Buendia, together with his band, Apartel, just performed last Saturday night at Tagaytay Art Beat 2.
Giving his proof of life, Ely tweeted a statement saying "Sa gumawa ng latest death hoax ko…If ever I actually die, I’ll let you know."
