Here's everything you need to know about Eraserheads' Huling El Bimbo concert

Estimated:  reading

Less than a day away from now, we get to witness one of the biggest Filipino concerts of the decade: Eraserheads Huling El Bimbo Concert 2022 is happening tomorrow, 22 December 2022. Said to be the band's last reunion in the Philippines, the concert gives the opportunity for Eraserheads fans to see Ely BuendiaRaymund MarasiganBuddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro together on one stage once more at the SMDC Festival Grounds.

We're pretty sure you're excited. The question is, are you ready?

Now, we're not just talking about mental preparation, but also physically being ready to venture into the Christmas traffic to watch a standing-only event in the heart of the city. December in Manila means more people on the streets (especially after the last two years we've had), so that's one thing. And with SMDC Festival Grounds being a relatively new venue, it's best to make sure that you're locked and loaded before getting in the thick of it.

In light of issues with some recent events, Huling El Bimbo concert organizers are making sure that everything is in order before they open the gates tomorrow. We at Bandwagon want to make sure you have a good time, too, so here's a guide to probably your last concert of the year—and information for those who will be watching at home from wherever in the world.

What to Bring

The items you can and cannot bring to Huling El Bimbo are pretty standard: make sure you have a physical copy of your ticket, a valid ID and your vaccination card. The weather has been unpredictable lately, so we support the idea of bringing raincoats—especially because umbrellas are not allowed on the concert grounds.

Any bag or backpack bigger than 12x12 inches is also not allowed, as well as foldable stools, outside food and drinks, flammable materials, illegal drugs, helmets, banners and signages of any sort. audiovisual recording equipment, and selfie sticks. Leave your pets at home, too. Take a look at the complete list below:

Also, make sure to bring cash or load up your Maya e-wallets—these are the only modes of payment accepted at the venue's food and water stalls.

Where To Go

Before travelling to the venue, read up on the admission policies in place and make sure you're good to go.

Gates open at 2 PM and attendees are encouraged to come early to beat the traffic. Each ticket category has a designated entrance, so best to familiarize yourself with the gate corresponding to the ticket you have on hand:

Getting there early means you have the opportunity to scout the venue, not just for the best spots to stay at but for the portalets, the concessionaires and the medic as well. Save a copy of this photo on your phone for easier reference:

What To Expect

During our interview with the band in November, they were quite tight-lipped about what to expect during the concert. Marasigan, though, did say that the setlist has an Easter egg that "hardcore fans would get right away."

Since then, a few things have been revealed leading to the show: drones, a full orchestra, and a Francis Magalona hologram. We know that Gary Valenciano will be at the concert as a guest performer as well.

Aside from the 'Heads themselves, we're keen on seeing the work of their collaborators in action. Their session musicians alone are enough to keep the excitement up: Jazz Nicolas (The Itchyworms) on keys, Mikey Amistoso (Ciudad) on acoustic guitar, and Audry Dionisio (General Luna) on guitars as well.

Buendia mentioned "looking forward to playing the whole set on the actual stage. And the lights." We also look forward to what creative director Paolo Valenciano has in store for everyone.

Before the 4-piece goes onstage, The Diegos (comprising Sandwich guitarist Diego Castillo and Pedicab vocalist Diego Mapa) will kick off the night with a DJ set.
