The highly anticipated Yuewen Music Festival at Siloso Beach Sentosa, that is happening from the 28 to 31 December started with a storm—literally and figuratively. A lightning warning on the first day disrupted performances, forcing attendees to evacuate. But what should have been a smooth process turned into chaos. Many were directed to open areas instead of proper shelter, leaving them exposed to the downpour.
Frustration grew when re-entry was delayed by long queues and repeated security checks, causing fans to miss key performances, including K-pop group Kiss Of Life. Adding to the discontent, attendees were barred from bringing water or umbrellas, only to find rain ponchos sold at $12 and water cups priced at $5 inside the venue. Long ad intervals between acts further dampened the experience.

In response to the backlash, Yuewen Group acknowledged the challenges faced during the first day. They cited regulatory requirements necessitating the conclusion of outdoor performances by 10:30 PM, which contributed to the scheduling conflicts post-evacuation. To address shelter inadequacies, the organizers added six extra tents at the main entrance for standard-pass ticket holders and distributed free ponchos on the second day of the festival.

Despite these efforts, the initial missteps have cast a shadow over the festival's reputation. As the event progresses, attendees and observers alike will be keen to see if Yuewen Group can rectify these issues and deliver the world-class music festival experience that was promised.
