Fête de la Musique is back this June. 

One of France's biggest celebrations of music is making its way back to the Philippines this weekend. Happening on 43 stages all across the country, the 29th edition of Fête de la Musique is broadening its horizons to advocate for our oceans. 

Entitled MerSea—derived from French words Mer for 'sea' and Merci for 'thank you', this year's festival will be happening from 16 to 24 June across Metro Manila, Siargao, Cebu, Albay, Baler, Baguio, Caloocan, El Nido, Laguna, Pampanga, Tagaytay, and Zambales.

The main stage for Fête de la Musique 2023 will be happening at Greenbelt, Makati on 23 June with performances from Blaster & the Celestial Klownz, Lola Amour, SOS, Cheats, ena mori, and Uncle Bob’s Funky Seven Club.

France's jazz act Rémi Panossian Trio will also be flying in to perform on June 21 at the Long Bar at Raffles Makati and on June 22 at the Alliance Française de Manille. 

Several acts will also be taking destination stages across Siargao and Cebu on 21 June and across Albay, Baler, Baguio, Caloocan, El Nido, Laguna, Pampanga, Tagaytay, and Zambales on 24 June.  

This year's festival will also feature an NFT fundraiser, organised in partnership with ScarletBox.io. The collaboration will feature 1,000 NFT art pieces, each priced at PHP 3,000, by renowned local photographers where proceeds will support the ocean conservation efforts of Large Marine Vertebrates Research Institute Philippines, an NGO dedicated to the conservation of marine wildlife. 

As part of this year's advocacy, Fête de la Musique 2023 has also organised several coastal clean-up and tree-planting activities across Metro Manila, Siargao, and Cebu, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
