Filipino singer-songwriter and producer Fern. is rooting himself in the nostalgia of R&B in his latest release. Cheekily described as a sexy love song, 'AkoNaSana' is a smooth, atmospheric song about someone’s hope that his desire is reciprocated.
“It’s a song about expressing feelings of wanting someone to think about you as much as you think about them,” says Fern. about the song. “You hope that the other person is also thinking about you in that way.”
Eagle-eyed fans may find 'AkoNaSana' familiar, and that’s because the track was teased by Fern. during the post-credits scene of the 'SO FLY' music video.
Fern. writes the song as if he’s talking to his potential lover, using flirty lines reminiscent of R&B songs from the 2000s. The singer cites D’Angelo, Daniel Caesar, and Frank Ocean as his primary influences for producing the song.

“But it’s also inspired by a mix of different music genres, a melting pot of everything I listen to and the way I perceive music,” Fern. expounds. “For this song, I really just let go. I just let the music come out. I started with the beat while we were on a team outing for KINDRED. We were in a nice house with a pool, and it was just the perfect setting to lay an idea down on my laptop. The idea turned out to be so good that when I got home, I instantly arranged the idea and recorded it the next week.”
“I’m going to really be showing a different side of myself in this era of music,” he promises. “More music and more art are coming soon, too!”
