Lilith, a metalcore act who happens to be the 2018 champions of Red Horse Beer Muziklaban (one of the biggest amateur band competitions in the Philippines), have released two brand new singles recently—namely, ‘Voices’ and ‘Grave of Your Misery.’
The Filipino five-piece unit put out ‘Voices’ over Christmas last year, signalling more pummeling music to come in the year ahead. The single, which boasts an intense groove and a relentless drum rhythm, is said to combine the band’s penchant for modern metalcore breakdowns with a darker melodic tone.
When asked about the track’s lyrical themes, vocalist Nicole Pestolante said: “It’s mainly a song that’s about frustration, guilt, remorse and all sorts of other messed-up feelings and emotions most people have a hard time addressing, let alone expressing.”

“We figured it’s these emotions—that have been especially prevalent these days given the worldwide situation we’re all in—that are constantly building up in everyone, and will eat everyone up and cause trauma if we all don’t get to come face to face with these issues; so this song just might help the process of exorcising these demons.”
As for ‘Grave of Your Misery,’ Pestolante remarked: “The song’s lyricism is mainly about an old friend, and his battle with addiction and vices, and how he refuses to let go of his ego and change his ways.”
“It’s actually our way of fearing for the worst and waiting for that final blow to inevitably happen, and hopefully it allows other people with undiscussed issues to realise that there’s always a way out—there’s always a chance to turn things around.”
Both new singles will serve as bonus tracks for their debut album monikered LIFE AND DEATH. Although the aforementioned album was originally released in 2018, it is now being repackaged via independent label Deadstring Records.
