The music world continues to flourish as more aspiring artists get their foot in thanks to Wired Music Week and Centre National de la Musique (CNM).
Earlier this year, the bustling sounds of excitement came to Maveriq Studios in Petaling Jaya as six acts and seven artists, songwriters, and composers from across Asia and France got together for the international songwriting camp organised by CNM and Wired Music Week with the support of the French Embassies in Singapore and in Malaysia. The camp, which ran from 14 February to 3 March, matched artists together to collaborate on fresh music that would later on be presented to music industry professionals in Malaysia. On top of that, participants also got a sneak peek into what life is like inside Astro, Malaysia's leading TV and radio network.
In September, 'thinkaboutyou', the first collaborative track to come out of the writing camp by Talitha. (MY) and Alex Colours (FR) and produced by Charlie Kurata (FR/JP) was released on music streaming platforms. More music from the session is scheduled to come out in 2024.

“For the CNM, this type of songwriting camp is a great way to encourage international creation between different music markets, generating new collaborations, networks, and music industry understanding," Ben Ling, international project manager for CNM shares in a statement. "Bringing together many great talents from France, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and Japan only works with trusted local partners, such as Wired Music Week, Maveriq Studios, ONErpm, and the French cultural network. We look forward to hearing much more from the artists involved and hope to return to South East Asia in 2024.”

One of the participants of Writing Session 2023 was French artist, songwriter, and producer Sūn Jùn, who recently performed at the AXEAN Music Festival in Singapore as part of the Asia leg of The Prelude Tour. At the regional festival, the 'Sān Èrshísān' act shared the stage with Singaporean artist Ffion and performed songs they composed together at the international songwriting program.
Sūn Jùn has since released his solo single 'LET MYSELF DOWN', visited Cambodia, where he performed in front of young Khmer musicians and recorded new music, and played shos in Vietnam and Malaysia with the support of Institut français. His latest feats simply prove that there is still so much in store for him and the artists CNM and Wired Music Week have on their lineup.
