Encanto and Disney+ are here to make our holidays extraordinary!
The Disney animated movie is set to stream on Disney+ starting December 24th, 2021.
Encanto tells the story of The Madrigals, a gifted family living in the mountains of Columbia, where each child is endowed with magical powers—from super-strength to healing abilities— except Mirabel. However, when the magic surrounding Encanto is threatened, she embarks on a quest to save her exceptional family with her gift of ordinariness.

Award-winning composer, Germaine Franco, composed the original score of the musical fantasy-comedy. The film also features original songs by Emmy, GRAMMY, and Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also worked on Broadway Hit Hamilton, and Disney film Moana. Meanwhile, Stephanie Beatriz — who plays Detective Rosa Diaz in NBS comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine — will be lending her voice to Mirabel.
Miranda's score pulls inspiration from the rhythms, instrumentation, and varied styles of Columbia's music in eight original songs. In particular, 'Dos Oruguitas' earned a nominee at the Critics' Choice Awards for best original song. In a featurette with Stephanie, Miranda expresses his love for the South American country: "the music that comes out of Columbia is so beautiful".
Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, both of which worked on Zootopia, and co-directed by Charise Castro Smith — who worked on The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez, this animated film is one to keep your eyes peeled for this coming Christmas Eve.
