Beyond the festive season and new resolutions, the end of the year also brings awards shows! One of which is the highly anticipated Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA). 

Known for celebrating the biggest names in Korean music and its impeccable live performances, this year's coveted awards ceremony is happening on 11 December 2021, marking MAMA's 12th instalment. MAMA 2021 will be hosted by one of K-pop's most iconic acts Lee Hyori.

On 3 November, MAMA announced its list of nominees via a global livestream on YouTube. The likes of BTS, IU, BLACKPINK's LISA and ROSÉ, EXO's KAI, BAEKHYUN, and D.O., KANG DANIEL, AESPA, ITZY, ENHYPEN, TXT, DAY6, NCT 127, SEVENTEEN, TWICE, and more are up for nominations this year.

British band Coldplay are also nominated for their very first MAMA for 'My Universe,' their collaboration with BTS.

This year, only 2 categories will be determined by 100% fan voting: Worldwide Icon of the Year and Worldwide Fans’ Choice Top 10. Meanwhile, the winners of the Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year awards will be determined by a panel of judges, physical album sales, digital music data, and more.
