ITZY are here with their 'SNEAKERS' on as they reveal their new mini-album CHECKMATE.

On 15 July (Friday), the award-winning K-pop act unveiled their new 7-track offering CHECKMATE via JYP Entertainment. Prior to the release of the mini-album, a massive 720,665 pre-orders were made, marking ITZY as the fourth K-pop girl group in history to surpass 700,000 pre-order sales.

The 'WANNABE' quintet held a special Twitter Blueroom session, where they gave updates with MIDZY (ITZY's official fandom), shared stories behind the tracks off CHECKMATE, showed the contents of the physical editions of the album, and answered questions from fans.

"ITZY is nothing without confidence. We want to give energy to MIDZY with our confident and energetic message and we want to have a refreshing summer with MIDZY. We hope this song will do that," the group shared during their Twitter Blueroom.

"It has been a while since our last comeback so everything was fun," they add. "I'm not saying it wasn't fun before, but compared to last comebacks, this comeback was more fun. We tried so hard for this comeback so the members were sleepy a lot."

Following the release of CHECKMATE, ITZY will be holding a two-day concert in Seoul this 6-7 August before kicking off with their North America tour that runs from late October to mid-November. They are also scheduled to appear at KCON 2022 this 19-21 August, where they will be performing alongside CRAVITY, ENHYPEN, NMIXX, STAYC, THE BOYZ, WJSN, and many more.
