IU is making her Cannes Film Festival debut with Broker this week.

As pictures of the ‘Blueming’ chart-topper at the airport fluttered around social media on 25th May, many fans were thrilled in their anticipation of the multi-talented performer’s first major film role. 

Directed by Palme d'Or recipient, Hirokazu Koreeda, the upcoming film, Broker, is his first Korean film and headlined by a strong casting combination of Song Kang-ho (Parasite), Kang Dong-won (Master), Bae Doona (The Host) and IU (Hotel Del Luna).

Following the story of characters who are associated with baby boxes, a plan that allows newborns to be anonymously dropped off to be taken care of by foster families, the movie promises emotional depth and unpredictability. 

This film marks many of the cast and crew reunions with one another - Bae Doona’s second collaboration with Hirokazu since Air Doll, Kang Dong-won and Song Kangho having worked with each other in Secret Reunion, and IU starring alongside Bae Doona in Persona. All eyes are on the highly-anticipated chemistry among the Broker team. 

Officially, the film will be unveiled on 8th June in South Korea.
