Joanna Dong may be fresh out of a national pop competition, but her ambitions lie in her roots as a Singaporean jazz vocalist.

The Sing! China finalist made waves recently for her stunning versatility, whether if it was improvising a trumpet solo or a full-on display of vocal skills, and her place in the finals was well-deserved, performing alongside her show mentor Jay Chou.

The experience was certainly a career affirmation of sorts for the singer, who's been performing in the Singaporean jazz scene for more than a decade — and it was, as she shares with us, almost overwhelming as well.
