Korean producer 250, who was worked on numerous hits by the likes of BTS, ITZY and NCT 127, is finally releasing his debut album PPONG.
The versatile musician embarks on his long-time-coming album that ventures to fuse Korean ppong-jak music with modern-day dancefloor electronic music. As the sought-after DJ for events like Seoul Fashion Week and Maison Kitsuné club nights, the visionary producer seeks to uncover the traditional form of music from its obscurity and present it to listeners with a blend of trendiness from his background in livening up dancefloors.
Ppong is a genre that sprung up in the early '20s but slowly fell out of the mainstream when globalisation sped up, introducing western music trends all across the globe. Though deemed as tacky, bawdy, comedic or even not to be taken seriously, 250 carries a heart for preserving the heritage that comes along with the genre. Korea’s ‘tumultuous 20th century’, he believes, is carried in the genre, capturing its stories of war, division and nostalgic sorrow.

For four years, the South Korean DJ reached out to legendary trot acts like Epaksa and Na Woon Do, scoured the country for these elusive sounds, and flipped them into modern sensibility for his upcoming album, set for release on 18 March.
The debut album would also include the artist’s previous single ‘Bang Bus’ which was released at the end of 2021. Pre-order the new album here.
