Lee Jung Jae to play lead role in new Star Wars series, 'The Acolyte'

Lee Jung Jae is headed to a galaxy far, far away. 

In a report made by Deadline, the Korean actor is said to be taking on the lead role in the upcoming Star Wars series, The Acolyte which will premiere on Disney+. Produced by Lucasfilm, the new series is a mystery-thriller that explores the secrets of the Dark Side in the final days of the High Republic era. 

Lee Jung Jae is said to be joined by the likes of Amandla Steinberg and Jodie Turner-Smith. More details will be revealed soon. 

The veteran actor, who was most recently known for his role as Gihun in Netflix's breakout series Squid Game, is one of Korea's most respected actors with an impressive television and TV career that spans over three decades. He was mostly recently nominated for Ouitstanding Lead Actor In A Drama at this year's Emmy and won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series at the Screen Actors Guild Award.
