Squid 9 (Raimund Marasigan's electronic hip-hop project) are set to release their fifth album, Weld, next week at Saguijo. The Weld Album Launch will also feature performances by electric duo Moonwlk, producer Abdel Aziz, nerdcore hip-hop crew Shadow Moses, math rock trio Tom's Story, and indie rock quartet Peryodiko.
Their last album, Origamidi, was launched in 2014 in the most unique way possible — the digital album on a USB stick inside a specially designed can by Team Manila, along with stickers and squid flakes. A Squid 9 merch vendo machine was also a highlight at the Cubao X launch.
Now, a week before the new album's release, Squid 9 drops the first single 'Future Perfect', featuring Gaijin's Shinji Tanaka on drums and Jesse Grinter on vocals.
Raymund Marasigan talks about the the album in a series of tweets:
BANDWAGON TV
All the drums electronic and acoustic were played by Shinji Tanaka. We decided not to program them for this album.

And all the tracks were started exclusively using an ipad app called Korg Gadget. It was refreshingly limiting haha
