Spotify teams up with Gold House and Live Nation to amplify 3 lucky Asians and Pacific Islanders (API) musicians - Ruby Ibarra, Anik Khan, and Thuy Tran.
From 6th December 2021 to 14th January 2022, the 12-member-strong selection committee comprising of Pitchfork’s Editor-In-Chief Puja Patel, CMO and President of Warner Recorded Music Eric Wong, Arjun Puljal, the President of Capitol Music Group, and many other industry API leaders screened regional–wide applications in search of the first-ever cohort of Future Music Guild.
Through the programme, the 3 chosen music artists will be given the platform to showcase their outstanding talents and the resources to boost their industry know-how further.
Ruby, Anik and Thuy will be participating in Spotify masterclasses and will be able to apply their gifts in music-making by recording Spotify Singles, a series of original artist recordings made in the streaming service’s recording studios, which would be released worldwide on the platform.
Additionally, they would be receiving investments to nurture their skills and advance their successes from labels like Warner Music Group, Transparent Arts, and many more, together with mainstream brand-building promotion.
The three collaborative brands cite their desire to “[use their] influence to support diversity and unlock opportunities” as well as “[expand] mentorship, growth and success opportunities for API artists within the live business”.
