KLP48 will be making its debut in Kuala Lumpur this summer. 

On 1 January, 48 ENTERTAINMENT SDN. BHD. introduced its tenth overseas sister group of AKB48 to be based in Kuala Lumpur, which will join the other overseas groups including JKT48, BNK48, MNL48, and HKT48. 

The group has activated its official social media accounts on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, and a dedicated website, and has since posted a short trailer of the launch.

“It has been 12 years since the establishment of JKT48, the first overseas sister group, and since then, many sister groups have been developed throughout Asia. Upon receiving praise in his knowledge [of] overseas entertainment, especially in Asia, from General Producer Yasushi Akimoto, we are pleased to announce that Nariaki Terada of Superball Inc. has been appointed as the General Producer of the overseas 48 sister groups,” Superball Inc. shared in a press release.

Dubbed as Japan’s largest girl group, AKB48, short for Akihabara, have released a slew of notable tracks, such as ‘恋するフォーチュンクッキー’, ‘フライングゲット’, and ‘ヘビーローテーション’, since their debut.
