NIKI has set a date for the launch of her third studio album.

Announced on 2 May, Buzz is scheduled to be released via 88rising on 9 August, two years after the LA-based Indonesian singer-songwriter dropped her sophomore record, Nicole.

The project will comprise personal folk-rock numbers that together form an "honest account" of where she currently finds herself on her journey.

NIKI, whose real name is Nicole Zefanya, explained how the album came to be: "I went through an identity crisis. It took a lot of trial and error, and I just stumbled upon pieces of myself along the way. I named it Buzz because it feels like I'm on the precipice of something about to happen."

The 25-year-old cited the songwriting styles of Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks, and American singer-songwriters Carly Simon and Liz Phair as her biggest influences while working on the project.

She also recruited Tyler Chester, who has worked with Sara Bareilles and Madison Cunningham, and Ethan Gruska, who has collaborated with Fiona Apple and Phoebe Bridgers, to help produce Buzz

The album's announcement follows the recent release of its lead single 'Too Much Of A Good Thing', a track that captures the experience of having a crush on someone.
