RCA Records Greater China has announced a strategic partnership with IRIS Chengdu, a rising indie hip hop label founded by renowned producer HARIKIRI. The collaboration is set to propel Chinese hip hop to global audiences through the launch of five albums from five distinct artists over the next year.
IRIS Chengdu has been a key player in China’s hip hop evolution, with HARIKIRI making history by releasing the country's first Afrobeat track and producing hits for international artists like Jay Park and China’s own Higher Brothers. This partnership will see RCA Records Greater China leveraging its industry expertise to bring fresh sounds to the forefront.
The roster of artists includes trailblazing rapper Vinida Weng, whose latest album debuted alongside a hometown concert in Fuzhou, as well as Haysen Cheng, Miles, Swag Kelly, and HARIKIRI himself. With Chengdu already recognized as a hub for China's new generation of rappers, this collaboration aims to expand the genre's reach beyond borders.
Andrew Chan, CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Greater China, emphasized the label’s commitment to nurturing Chinese talent, stating, “Together, we will strive to showcase a new wave of music genres that resonate both locally and globally.”
HARIKIRI echoed this sentiment, highlighting the mission of IRIS Chengdu: “This partnership marks an exciting milestone, amplifying our ability to share stories globally while staying true to our roots. Together, we’re bridging cultures, connecting audiences, and taking music beyond borders.”
