Calling all Hakka singers and songwriters! The 1st Global Hakka Music Awards are looking for the next Hakka hitmakers.
Started in the hopes that more musicians can groom an interest in the composition and performance of more Hakka tracks, the music competition invites Hakka musicians all across the globe to participate.
20-year industry veteran, Ayugo Huang, has been named as the chief reviewer of the event, ensuring the organisers’, the Hakka Affairs Council of Taiwan, dedication to the artists and hopefuls’ growth as musicians. Moreover, the top three contestants who emerge from the programme would be offered professional debut training courses, conducted by Sony Music.

As compared to the previous series of the competition, the 2022 edition marks the first time the organisers will be opening registrations worldwide as well as the introduction of a singing category, on top of composition. In addition, selected overseas participants can enjoy subsidised airfare, accomodation, and transportation, courtesy of the sponsors, to compete on the Taiwan stage.
After 3 rounds of thrilling battles from June to August, winners of the 1st Global Hakka Music Awards’ composition category can look forward to a cash prize of up to NT$300,000, the chance to record singles, shoot music videos, and have their releases professionally distributed on global streaming platforms. On the other hand, the top 3 singers would receive up to NT$150,000, a trophy, and a certificate of merit.
