Wanting to remind his listeners of his love of rap, Brightside came about after working on his single 'New Tooth'. "This project started from me making New Tooth and realizing how much I missed rapping, while doing melodies are fun I wanted to remind people that I still love to rap," said the 'edamame' hitmaker.

"It’s short, it’s not an album but I see it like a mental note of how the past year has accelerated my growing-up process as an artist & a person.”
Brightside spans four tracks, including a collaboration with fellow 88rising act Warren Hue titled 'Getcho Mans'. The power rap track features a fast-paced music video that was shot entirely in film and captures the two Indonesian rappers brawling it out in an intense cypher battle.
"I remember hearing this beat for the first time and immediately astral projecting, me and Warren were very caffeinated in the studio that day and decided to Dragon Ball fusion on this track. This song has a lot of words in it but it’s okay because it makes me feel invincible and I hope it makes you feel the same," said Rich Brian on 'Getcho Mans'.
Before 2021 came to a close, Rich Brian headlined 88rising's Head In The Clouds festival which saw some of the biggest names in Asian music including the likes of Joji, NIKI, CL, DPR LIVE and DPR IAN, keshi, Seori, and more.
This year, the rapper is slated to perform at Coachella 2022 with acts like Harry Styles, Ye, Billie Eilish, Epik High, Swedish House Mafia, and more.
