The new single 'Catch Me In The Air' is an uplifting pop anthem written dedicated to Sawayama's mother who raised her as a single parent. "I really wanted to write about this weird relationship with single parents – you do catch each other in the air,” Sawayama explains in a press release.

In a separate Instagram post honouring her mother, the Japanese-British artist elaborates on the song's personal message. "I wrote Catch Me In The Air across 2020-2021, at a time when a lot of people around me were having children or thinking of having children. It made me think of the pressures that parents go through when raising a child. I put myself in my mum‘s shoes." she says.
