Last year, Twitter and Billboard partnered up to form the Hot Trending Songs chart. Described as "a real-time ranking of the most talked-about songs on Twitter worldwide," the chart has been a place to check great hits—with some tracks we've never come across until now.

SB19's 'Bazinga' holds on to number 1 on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs chart for a record-breaking seventh week

In an interview with Bandwagon, Carl Cheng, Twitter's Head of Entertainment Partnerships in Southeast Asia & Greater China, shared how Hot Trending Songs charts the fan conversations happening in the world of music and highlights trending songs regardless if they're new or not.

"Together with Billboard, we wanted to diversify how we track trends within music. We also wanted to showcase the results of what music fans are doing on the platform and there was no better partner than Billboard to bring it to life for the music fans around the world," Cheng shared.

Since Hot Trending Songs' formation, we've seen an array of songs make it into the Top 20. There's of course chart mainstays BTS and the members' solo work, LISA of BLACKPINK, NCT, and Taylor Swift; but we've also witnessed the rise of regional acts like SB19 and Mew Suppasit and even the emergence of newcomers like Kep1er and BE:FIRST. 

Here are some songs from Billboard and Twitter's Hot Trending Songs that are definitely worth checking out. 

'Bazinga' - SB19

Filipino pop group SB19 have been making quite the noise on the chart, being the only act to get to number 1 aside from global superstars BTS. As of the week of 22 January 2022, the two pop acts are currently tied for the most number 1 spots on Hot Trending Songs – with 'Bazinga' and 'Butter' each topping the chart for six weeks.

But beyond all that, SB19 have risen to fame in their own right. With undeniable talent, hard work and determination, plus the support of A'TIN (fans of SB19), the 'Go Up' hitmakers have become one of the Philippines' most notable acts, smashing and creating records with every release since their formation in 2018. 

Off of their latest EP Pagsibol, 'Bazinga' comes as SB19's clap back to anyone who has doubted them over the years and a showcase of their energy and continually rising power. 

 'Fly Away' - Dimash Qudaibergen

Considered one of the best vocalists today, Dimash Qudaibergen is well-known for his unique and contemporary take on traditional Kazakh music and his impressive vocal range. The singer and multi-instrumentalist first rose to critical fame when he joined the Chinese singing competition show Singer in 2017 and has since gained immense popularity all around the world. 

The 'Be With Me' hitmaker has had a number of his hits make it onto Hot Trending Songs but 'Fly Away' has proven to be an undeniable force on the chart, peaking at No. 2. Centred around spiritual and creative freedom, Dimash debuted the emotional ballad at Russia's New Wave 2021 festival.

'Wa Da Da' - Kep1er

Kep1er is one of K-pop's newest girl groups but that hasn't stopped them from already setting the world abuzz. The nine-piece has been quite the talk of the town since the release of their debut EP, First Impact earlier this month; and for good reason. From their alluring sound to their impressive vocals, Kep1er has had one of the most captivating K-pop debuts in the last year. 

Wanting to leave a lasting first impression, Kep1er ensured that their official introduction to the world was nothing short of a bang. 'WA DA DA' is the multi-national group's lead single and talks about their aspirations and goals as artists. 

'Gifted.' - BE:FIRST

Formed through the Japanese competition show The First last November, BE:FIRST is a J-pop group that's been gaining traction from all corners of the Internet. With a fanbase that spans the entire world, the seven-piece have been a common sight on Hot Trending Songs. 

Their debut single 'Gifted.' has spent 10 weeks on the chart, peaking at No. 3. The dynamic song tracks the group's desire to share their natural talents or 'gifts' with the world; and considering their history on the Billboard chart, they're doing a great job. 

'Get Set Yo' - ASTRO's MJ ft. Kim Tae-Yoon

While 'Get Set Yo' didn't spend that long on the Hot Trending Songs chart, MJ certainly got his name out there. Lovingly nicknamed as 'The Happy Virus' by his fans, the ASTRO member achieved quite the feat with his trot track. 

Similar to his previous solo releases, 'Get Set Yo' boasts positive energy and showcases the ever-cheerful act's captivating vocals. 

'ELEVEN' - IVE

Right from their debut last December, IVE has been generating quite the hype. Beyond charting for several weeks in a row, the group's debut track 'ELEVEN' has garnered close to 70 million views since its release—an achievement unheard of for most new K-pop acts. 

'Turbulence' - ATEEZ

In the world of K-pop, ATEEZ is not a new name. Essentially synonymous with stunning vocals, mesmerising choreography, and captivating concepts, the boy group are one of Korea's sought out acts. 

ATEEZ has had a number of tracks chart on Hot Trending Songs including 'Turbulence' and 'The Real', both of which come as part of their ZERO: FEVER EPILOGUE album. Both the tracks showcase the group's prowess as a vocal and dance unit. 

'Spaceman' - Mew Suppasit

Mew Suppasit has been quietly but steadily making his way up the ranks of Hot Trending Songs. His HONNE-produced track 'SPACEMAN' has been waves all around the world, conjuring up the buzz online. From his melodious vocals against HONNE's electric soul sound to the track's cinematic music video, 'SPACEMAN' is an experience of it's own. 

Most recently, the Thai act's recent collaboration with Korean singer-songwriter Sam Kim, titled 'Before 4:30 (She Said...)' also made it into Hot Trending Songs Top 5.
