SEVENTEEN’s new special unit HOSHI X WOOZI have released their eagerly anticpated first single album BEAM.
As SEVENTEEN’s “mastermind duo,” the pairing of HOSHI and WOOZI creates a powerful fusion, with HOSHI leading the performance unit and WOOZI serving as the vocal unit’s leader and the band’s main producer. After first showcasing their synergy through 'Bring It', a B-side track from SEVENTEEN’s second studio album, TEEN, AGE in 2017, the two finally take center stage to own their craft and command the spotlight.
In BEAM, a title symbolizing the light that radiates from HOSHI and WOOZI, the duo encapsulates the essence of their artistry. Beaming with confidence, originality, and self-love, the two shine in any circumstance, embodying the brilliance that defines the duo. The album’s distinctive sound has been shaped by significant contributions from both members, with their names credited on every track.
At the heart of the album, the lead single '96ers' reflects the duo’s journey and identity as longtime friends born in 1996, blending a bold, innovative hybrid sound with witty lyrics brimming with self-assurance, growth, and ambition.
In the accompanying music video, HOSHI and WOOZI command attention with a unique aura that sets them apart in a world where individuality is often lost in imitation. Set against a backdrop reminiscent of an art museum, the duo embody originality and confidence, presenting themselves as living masterpieces. While the visually striking aesthetic enhances the infectious energy of the track, the duo’s undeniable talent and effortless synergy shine through in fluid choreography.
Alongside '96ers', BEAM features two additional tracks that further showcase HOSHI and WOOZI’s originality—'PINOCCHIO (feat. So!YoON!)', an alternative R&B track that draws on a clever metaphor of Pinocchio to unfold the poignant irony of love growing stronger through concealed feelings and white lies, and 'STUPID IDIOT', a deep house-driven track with powerful, catchy beats that playfully capture the duo’s fearless and carefree approach to life.
HOSHI shares, “WOOZI and I have always been inseparable since we were young. We’ve long dreamed of working as a unit, and now that we can finally present BEAM to the world, I’m beyond excited. This album truly reflects the kind of music we want to create, so we’re planning to fully enjoy ourselves on stage.”
WOOZI adds, “It’s an incredible experience to release a new album with my closest friend in life. We had an absolute blast working on it, and I believe that energy is what makes this album so honest and true to us.”
