Great news, J-pop and J-drama fans! Ren Meguro is now on Instagram!

On 23 October, the actor and member of popular idol group Snow Man announced his presence on the social media platform, to allow fans from all over the world to connect with him and stay updated with his work. Meguro is the second member of Snow Man to open his own Instagram account, following youngest member and fashion model Raul who launched his account at the beginning of the year. 

This news follows the worldwide release of Meguro’s starring drama, Trillion Game, on the major entertainment streaming service Netflix. The show, which first aired nationwide in Japan on TBS’ prime time Friday slot, sees Meguro play the silver-tongued and charismatic Haru Tennoji who, with his best friend, the brilliant but painfully shy Gaku (M!LK’s Hayato Sano), aims to do whatever it takes to earn one trillion dollars. 

In a press release, he shares, “With Trillion Game, I and the rest of the cast, as well as the staff and crew really put a lot of heart into creating the drama. When it comes to completed projects I’ve done, I feel like once they’re out they kind of take on a life of their own through interacting with new audiences, and I’m very curious to see how that plays out with first-time foreign viewers in addition to repeat or first-time viewers here in Japan.”

This is just one of several dramas featuring Ren Meguro to have made its way to global streaming services. International fans of Japanese dramas can also watch him as Kosuke Ida in My Love Mix-Up!, in which he co-stars with Naniwa Danshi’s Shunsuke Michieda, on Netflix (Asia) and Viki (elsewhere), and as So Sakura in Silent on Viki (worldwide). 

“As an entertainer who wants to experience being a part of more international projects, not just acting but together with Snow Man as well, I’m glad that more people around the world are getting the chance to experience TV shows that represent and show off what Japan has to offer,” says Meguro.
